Those with a passion for culture will be able to visit the unique
museums and centers: The civic Museum of Riva del Garda, Arco's
Arboretum, Drena Castle, the Fortress, the Castle of Arco, the
Ramparts, the Castle of Tenno, the
Italian War Museum, and the
Peace Bell, Trent's
Buonconsiglio Castle, the medieval village of
Canale the
House of the Artists and the historic reenactments that are organized. In addition you can visit the
MART with its splendid
exhibitions, the
ancient Roman city of San Martino and the
historical villages of Ledro and Fiavé.
Altogarda has been inhabited by man since ancient times and that is why today we see the co-existence of prehistoric and
Roman remains,
medieval villages, palaces and
Hapsburg forts all in the same area. This mixture has always amazed numerous
famous historical figures, including
Goethe, Rilke, Mann, Dante, Depero and D'Annunzio. They too have left behind small
footprints from their time here, citing Altogarda in various
artistic works. Guests will be able to live as if in a novel, admiring the astonishing waterfalls of
Varone, the olive groves of Torbole or the "Marocche di Dro". A visit to the
Vittoriale is a must, as well as visiting its
theater. Don't forget that the area between Altogarda and Rovereto was the birthplace of Futurism, with
Depero and Marinetti who took refuge at
Doss Casina on Mount Baldo while on "creative retreat".
